Yes, i do know that that has always been the associated problem is somethign permeating into the plenum. but with a substantial substrate thickness and knowing some basics about how meristems of root grow i would think that they avoid the highly anerobic areas when they start to come into contact with a chemical environment they dislike, which is know to happen. any minor permeation would allow in some anerobic aerobic mixing which is not necessarily a bad thing.
