BG, it depends on what kind of heat pack it is. My Petsmart gets heat packs
which are nothing more that water-soaked wheat or barley, which has been nuked
in a microwave. OTOH, chemical heat packs use steel wool and salt water. The
reaction needs Oxygen - basically, accelerated rust.
