I will check into yellow grub disease. Sounds nasty, but maybe more
treatable.

I did notice though that one of my tanks with juvenile southern red belly
dace is also infected. This is the tank of offspring from local fish.

The offspring of southern red belly dace collected in Kansas have not shown
signs of infection.

This is a vivid reminder of why we don't let fish go once they're in the
house.

The juvenile SRBD have not contacted any other fish ever. In fact, I put
their parents in a clean tank for a few days this spring and then removed
them before the eggs hatched. Being fry, I have of course not put other
fish in their tank. I must have had my hands wet or somehow transferred the
infectious agent from one tank to another without knowing it.
