Moina species water fleas at hatching are much
smaller than new hatched brine shrimp , unlike brine
shrimp they live in fresh water , feed on green water
, are much less likely to "crash" than Daphnia water
flea species ,tolerate warm temperatures and
overcrowding more than daphnia species .
Vinegar/wine/micro eels are very small fry food ,
young vinegar eels will pass through an average coffee
filter , will live a long time in "fresh" water , do
not need to be constantly re-cultured like micro worms
, do not compete for oxygen in the fry tank and
naturally concentrate at the water surface as most fry
do which makes them available to the fry .
Grindal worms are good food for larger/older fry
,are stable cultures at warmer temperatures than white
worms , are smaller than white worms , can be cultured
right along with red earth worms and I've yet to meet
a darter that didn't seem to enjoy them . If the
Grindals get into the gravel darters stay on high
alert to pounce on them when they show their little
heads . The Grindals go to the bottom where the
darters usually are .
