I've been looking at the ewa satchels for my nikon
coolpix camera, and while the $200 price tag seems a
little steep its not the biggest concern. While
reading the literature at Ritz Camera, I read that
automatic focus doesnt work correctly underwater so
shots should be taken at two meters or more, which
pretty much blows the utility of the product out of
the water... they then go on to recommend attaching a
52mm adaptor and a closeup lens... seems rather
foolish to me. Their literature states that the
infrared focusing system doesnt work correctly
underwater because of the different refraction rate of
water as compared to air...things seem to be closer,
and the camera doesnt compensate for that.... I was
wondering if anyone can corroborate that and what if
anything they have done to compensate for the apparent
incorrect readings. Be4 I spend $200 on a plastic bag
with a plastic lens portal and a srew down clamp, I
would like to be sure it will be able to take pics
underwater of fish close by. Any help there would be
appreciated.
