after reading various sources on the treatment of fin rot, and talking to
the local aquarium shop owner ... I am confused and hoping that I can get
some advice from someone who has dealt with the problem in native fish.

I have a 250cm Bullhead (Ictalurus melas) in a 50 gal tank. The fish was
collected a year ago and is healthy and vigorous, but is loosing fin
tissue - the worst area is on the pectoral fin - however all of the fins
show some tattering. The PH of the tank is 7.6 - I was told that water was
the source of most bacterial stress - but I was also told that low PH not
high PH was an issue.

I would be grateful for the chance to correspond with someone who has delt
with this problem and can lead me out of the wilderness of catfish first aid
...

sincerely,
