don't count on bleaching. I used to work in a nursing home when I lived in
Tucson and they had an aquarium infested with Malaysian trumpet snails. The
aquarium service decided to eradicate the snails for no good reason. They
took out all the fish, put a few inches of bleach water (strength unknown to
me but it smelled of chlorine pretty badly) and left it for a week. Then
they came and rinsed the gravel and filled the tank back up. Most of the
snails were dead, but a few dozen survived and repopulated the tank in no
time.

I would have to say that once you have these snails, get used to it.
they'll be around a while.

Although, I suppose that they would not survive boiling the gravel, but then
again, neither would anything else.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of these, short of bleaching
the tank?
