Peterson's is surprisingly unhelpful a lot of the time. Luciae is known in
the vernacular as the spotfin killifish. Not a very useful name, since
mummichogs also often have a spot in the dorsal fin. But, that's where we be
for the moment. To find spotfins you have to go the extreme fishing route
because they're almost never found outside the high tide edge on the floor
of a salt marsh so leave your seine at home and bring a solid dipnet.
