Over the winter I bought a couple of pairs of stocking foot waders which
were on closeout. I have never used this type of wader before, only the
attached boot foot. In my searches for a wading shoe for them, I have seen
all kinds of shoes and boots for sale. Everything from special wading
sandals to $200 boots with special inserts and features that only people who
have too much money would be interested in. What is looks like to me so far
is that if you are a person who is a hiker and want footware that will give
ankle and foot support and traction all day, it seems like an investment in
a good felt sole wading boot is what is needed. If you are more into
stopping the car and jumping in the stream to grab a few crayfish or the
like, a pair of old shoes or cheap wading shoes or boots (~$25-$40) is in
order. If you want to do your own research, do a google search on wading
boots and you will get tons of info. The really serious people who are
serious about wading shoes are usually the fly fishermen. "Samplers" like
us would probably quickly ruin the expensive pairs with all the kicking in
the sticks and stones.
