They do follow a cycle, at least over here in the UK, closely tied to aphid
populations. The last big one I remember was in 1976, but there have been
minor ones since. I assume the widespread use of ever more evil pesticides
has an effect on such things. No aphid boom, no Ladybird boom the next year.
