Similar ranges, yes. But the char has the edge. See p. 49 of the Peterson
Field Guide and p. 309 of the Behnke trout & salmon book. According to
Behnke, the Arctic char is the most northern occurring freshwater fish not
just in NA, but the world -- Lake Hazen on the northern part of Ellesmere
Island, at 82 deg N lat.
