Gar get quite big not sure if a 125 would suffice, as far as feeding them, I
really understand your desire to keep preditory fish, I have been doing it
for years and they are by far my favorites. But you need to ask yourself do
you want to be a fish haver or a fish keeper? A fish haver is someone who
just keeps fish, these types of people often end up killing their fish in
the end due to neglect. Fish keepers on the other hand try to provide the
best possible habitat they can for their fish, this means big enough tanks,
and a proper diet. If you collect fish from the wild you should try to feed
them what they need not only to survive but to thrive and that will mean
live feeder fish.

I probably spend close to $100-$150a month on Goldfish and other food (like
frozen squid, cuttle fish, shrimp, crawfrish etc.) for my little beasties
but its money I fell is well spent because of the joy they bring me. I have
a 10" rock bass that is so tame he will eat out of my hand. If you can
provide the proper diet than by all means do it, if you cannot then don't
