ON the marsh here I have seen pods of babies 9 feet long and 4 feet wide.
They were gaurded by several males. Kind of a bachelors pooling their
resources. a number of savage teeth filled jaws, and tail slapping warnings
is better than one, and a group that large of young probably has better
survival, like schooling minnows, I can imagine how the food base is
devoured as a pod of young go over an area. Such an interesting fish.
Another neat thing I have seen them doing, basking with half there body out
of the water in the filterd sun from reeds.
