Chlorine or chloramine?

Chloramine is nasty for fish because sodium thiosulfate breaks chloramine
into ammonia.

I have chloramine here and have chosen to install a carbon water filter in
the garage with 50 feet of polyethylene tubing connecting to a U-shaped PVC
device so I can hook it on the edge of the tanks.

I've spent a bit of time on this, so if anyone is interested, I'll dsicuss
plans.

The best generic chlorine neutralizer is sodium thiosulfate. Several sources
exist for this in bulk for cheap. One is Jonah's Aquarium, operated by
NANFA's Mark Binkley in Ohio (www.jonahsaquarium.com ?). The other is
chemist and killifish keeper Charles Harrison who has added an aquarium
chemistry line to his excellent inkjet printer inks business in St. Louis,
at www.inkmkr.com/Fish (yes, inkmaker is intentionally misspelled). Either
place will sell you a large amount of sodium thiosulfate for very cheap.
