That sounds like a quite a dog... I would go with a physical
barrier. Those underground electric fences may work for a while but once
the dog learns that if he can take the shock for a few seconds he will soon
be far enough into the pond (away from the buried wire) and it will no
longer shock him. Now if the ponds themselves are not too big you may be
OK. Depending on the fence model that you find... they have different
ranges from the wire that the collar will be active. I have two dogs,
springer spaniels... the smart one figured this out in a month... the other
one took a bit longer.
