I concur with Bob Bock.

Here is what I think can work out, since it sounds like Bob does it too.

Host your local tropical fish/killi / cichlid/ livebearer/etc. clubs meeting
at your house or another meeting place. Set up at the annual Christmas
party if you have one ( that is when the clubs I am in make the schedule of
hosts meetings) that you are interested in hosting a field trip/club
meeting. It is amazing, people you never guessed would enjoy collecting have
a blast. Not to mention it seems to be the best way to get people into
appreciating local fish species. Some people who are not into fishing, just
like to get out and enjoy the day and the sceneary, and learn a thing or
two.

Now, you have atleast a small group of people regardless that will show up.
This trip will be well in advance known, and can be combined with NANFA
members. So far the clubs I am in no one objects to bringing people from
other clubs in for field trips.

Just a thought.
