It is interesting to note that some of the more successful lures (Red and
White Daredevil) for deep water trolling probably appear as black and white,
unless fish sense colors much differently than we do. Perhaps if they are
much more sensitive to the red component, the diminished red wavelengths at
deeper locations may not hamper their ability to see the color difference. On
the other hand, as many authors have noted, the appearance and color of
fishing lures is designed to catch the fisherman who then has confidence in
the lure and that is why it works.
