Yeah, I agree. The weatherman was saying were having one of the coldest
Octobers on record. We're supposed to maybe get to 40 degrees and Saturday
and then the bottom is going to fall out the rest of the coming week. Small
still water is already mostly frozen over. Oddly enough though the trees
hung onto a lot of their leaves until just a couple of days ago, and that's
later than normal. I guess they had to make up for last spring's late
start.

I go into bird watching mode more now this time of the year. It's pretty
good through November as our rivers and big water stay open through most of
the month. There were seven Whooping Cranes about 150 miles west of here
that actually hung around for a few days. Unfortunately I didn't make a
trip to see them.
