I'll be leading a collecting trip to Unicorn Lake Fishing Park in Northern
Queene Anne's County, this Saturday, October 11.

We'll meet at Angler's Sport Center, the big bait shop next to the McDonalds
on Route 50 east in Annapolis, shortly before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
Those who do not have a Maryland Fishing lisence will be able to purchase one
at Anglers.

Please RSVP--if you do not confirm in advance that you will be attending, we
will not wait for you to arrive.

If you prefer to travel directly to Unicorn, stay on Route 50, then exit at
the fork in the Road where Route 50 becomes 301. Follow 301 North for 20-30
minutes or so, until you come to the intersection with route 544. Turn right
on 544, proceed for a half a block or so, until 504 dead ends into route 313
(Millington Road). Turn left on Millington, and proceed about 1/4 mile until
you see the entrance to Unicorn Park.

In addition to acid water ghost shrimp, denizens of unicorn pond and vicinity
also include a small, apistogramma size sunfish, the bluespotted sunfish
[http://jonahsaquarium.com/egloriosus1.jpg], pirate perch,

ch01_jpg.jpg], and mudminnows [http://jonahsaquarium.com/umbrapyg1.jpg].

I recommended you bring waders, a seine, a lunch, and drinking water. The
last time I checked, dipnets were illegal in Maryland freshwater streams and
ponds.

Sorry, folks, but in these litiginous times, I need to post a disclaimer:

You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of any guests or
children that accompany you. Wading in freshwater streams and ponds may
occasionally pose a hazard. Neither the North American Native Fishes
Association nor myself will assume any responsibility for accidental injury or
death or loss of property incurred during this outing.
