Well people, after spending the entire morning figureing this out.. here are
the dates that make the playoffs for next year. Although June is a great
time to visit this region to see the many gushingwaterfalls abd breeding
fish alone, this provides me with little time to prepare this event, as well
as water not being the clearest possible. However, if June is what is most
"voted" for the best dates based on accomodation availability are in June,
only the 7th, 8th and 9th. I hope we don't pick these dates!..... July
available and non busy time in the hills dates are 5th, 6th, and 7th, 12th,
13th, and 14th, and finally, in July the 26th, 27th, and 28th. Best dates in
August would be the 3rd, 4th, or 5th and 9th, 10th, and 11th. In my opinion,
a late July date would be ideal. I tried to arrange these dates so that they
would not be at the same time as other events. I am wanting to let the
lodgeing owner know by the end of this weekend if possible, so I can arrange
to put a deposite down to hold the premises of which we would most likely be
completely occupying. I wantpeople to realize thatt the two lodges are like
HUGE HOMES they all have private bedrooms and a huge lounging area. There
are two large bathrooms in the lodges as well as showers at the camsite
located a stones throw away. We must realize that those that choose to stay
on these premises may need to share a room with someone, unless you are a
couple or married, and in that case you will get your "own room" I am also
arranging for a nearby Amerihost lodge to reserve a block of rooms that will
cater to those who will be coming alone, or just choose to stay in that
setting. I am arranging transportation to the field trip sites for those who
do not wish to drive. I have toured this place called Crocketts Run, and I
find that this place would offer a unique opportunity to have this event in
a relaxed "at home" setting. There is a very nice stream right on the
property as well as primitave campsites for those who wish to do so. In the
meantime, I am working on a total weekend price at Crocketts Run that would
include Lodgeing, Meeting facilities, continental breakfasts, for three
days, lunch and a dinner on the first full day. During the outings, Martin
has provided me with the rest of those "portable" meals we can use while at
sites, and there are plenty of places along the way to get a bite. This is a
little different from past conventions, but I really think that once people
see what this area has to offer everyone, and even those who are not here
just for "fish" they will really love it!... Remember, I will reserve a
block of rooms at a very nice hotel down the road for those wishing to stay
alone or not in the Lodge type setting. I would encourage you to come top
the lodge however. The meeting facilities are nice and right on the premises
of Crocketts Run, so those of you who would stay at the Amerihost, you will
have to come here for meetings, displays, talks, etc. For those that choose
to come at the last minute, well, I can't comment much on that, but there
are several "single" and double occupancy cabins available in the immediate
area. First, however, I need to hear some dates from what I just listed
above. I would strongly suggest Late July, or sometime in August, after
further review of the situation from so many angles. .... Robert S. Carillio
PS> I am attempting to minimize waste generated from this event, and have
contacted the HOCKING COUNTY FARM BUREAU to see about the possible donation
of farm fresh corn, apples, beans and other foods we can eat here!... B.G.
can I have some of your "Chef" help ... HA!... I can also arrange a keg of
draft beer... any takers?.. I am very confident that all will fall into
place.
