Two things that may be of interest to list members:

The latest issue of the journal Copeia, published by the Am. Soc. of
Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, has an article "Three New Pupfishes
Species, Cyprinodon (Teleostei, Cyrprinodontidae) from Chihuahua, Mexico,
and Arizona, USA. By W.L. Minckley, Robert Rush Miller, and Steve Mark
Norris. pp.687-705, vol. 2002, No. 3, August 15.

And on a very wide-ranging subject, the Southern Forest Resource Assessment
carried out by the U.S. Forest Service and several other government agencies
with outside scientific report is available online in .pdf format as a draft
report. Go to

www.srs.fs.fed.us/sustain

for more information than you probably really want. I recommend the Summary,
which is almost easy reading at 92 pages. The Assessment examines the
current condition, past history, and probable future trends in the 13 U.S.
states that formally made up the Confederacy. For instance, did you know
that over HALF of the world's paper is made in these 13 states? This has
major implications for aquatic ecosystem health in the most biodiverse
region of North America.
