Anyone interested in getting in one more collecting trip before the end
of the season is cordially invited to attend the first annual Alabama
Getaway in and around Birmingham, Alabama the weekend of October
4th-6th.

I've scouted out some pretty sites on both the Little Cahaba River (just
below Lake Purdy) and Turkey Creek (trib. of the Black Warrior River,
and home to the federally endangered Vermilion darter (e. Chermocki))
which should make for a nice couple of days' collecting. We're also
close enough to hit the Coosa River system if we want to.

I can accommodate 3 or 4 at my house (your sleeping bag, my floor) and
there are plenty of motels close by. I also promise to feed everybody
well Friday and Saturday nights, although I don't know if I can outdo
the fine eats at the Miss. Fish Camp.

So come on down if you're of a mind and join us, won't you? All
interested parties let me know as soon as possible so I know how much
food to buy. I'll also be glad to e-mail maps to my house and directions
to those who need them. Hope to see you there, I mean here!
