Not that I think that there is anything wrong with Todd's way, but if you
are using them as quarantine, I would probably install a pump and pump up to
a trickle filter which can sit on top of some supports over the tank. The
water will then trickle over some plastic biomedia to create a bio filter.
If you put a filter pad on top, it will act as a mechanical filter. This
way you have more control over medications etc. in your systems. As
mentioned, it helps to have conditioned biomedia.
