Thats exactly what I was thinking of. The whole lack of field work and revenue in the professional setting during the winter months is quite burdensome and I have been pushing to seek methods of alternative work specifically grant work and partnering with non-profits for such work. What you mention with the flame chubs is the same train of thought with fish and mussels we were on in Ohio ... unfortunately I started the process the day before the Ohio DOW grants were due and didnt see that until the day after (whoops!).
I'd really love to see the decals happen too, I would think by the convention is very reasonable. Think of pulling into the convention or even on the drive there and seeing a car with someone you've never met before but you see that NANFA decall. I think the last time the contentions were who had the time to partake, the proper printer, and what it would have on it. To solve what would be on it I suggest the Blackbanded sunfish and the NANFA title that can be found on the inside of the back cover of your AC. We already have the graphic for it if its something we print regularly. After a year with that, we can address the situation and change it to another fish if we feel necessary. I believe I checked into the clear decal print sheets before but will again, and since we are non-profit and donations are tax deductable I can swing a donation of the material if it can be ordered in some quantity manageable. A decent printer should be able to handle this, photo printers for sure,
and while volunteers would make it possible for them to be cheaper and the organization to get more funds from the sale, taking it to a kinko's may not be such a bad idea.

out grants. We have 501(c)(3) status which can make it easier to receive
money. Some of us do such work professionally, and many others have the
skills and interest to contribute to field survey work. I'm planning to do
such a survey this summer, looking for flame chubs in north Alabama
especially compared to where they've been reported in the past. I was hoping
to drag in other people to help some on this (Casper, Steven!) but I don't
have any outside money for it... but it's always possible.
And Matt you're right about window decals. Casper brought a bunch of small,
oblong NANFA stickers to Columbia last summer and I have one on the side of
my truck. It almost looks official! I'm not sure how many may still be
available.
