The only benefit message boards have over email/newsgroups is threading.
It used to be that mail clients would add the appropriate headers to
allow for proper threading, but Microsoft came along with Outlook
Express and busted up the party. Now whenever someone replies to a
thread with Outlook Express it breaks the thread for all other mail
programs (but continues to look normal in Outlook). Since OE is so
widespread it has effectively broken threading in Usenet and mail.
