you gotta stir that sand up good and pour off the fines which are clouding
the water.
i put a couple 3 inches in a 5 gallon bucket, get it stirred up good round
and round and then quickly pour off the water.
repeat.

otherwise the water will be cloudy for a long time and everytime you poke
around in it.
