I've been using a madtom imitation with much success on Susquehanna River smallmouths. Strangely, I have never seen a madtom in/from the Susquehanna....

about 10+ years ago I saw what was called "stone cats" in a wyoming bait store. Apparently worked great...There are at least two soft plastic imitations I have seen in Cabela's/Bass Pro catalouges that are molded to look exactly like them as well.
