i would think leechs would susist one one feeding for quite a while.
i agree that balance in nature is very fragile... i see it as seasons change.
rains and dry spells. some plants florish others wither. the same for a pond.
i especially think this when i see a stream that has not changed for eons and
then a hillside is clearcut and the stream is filled w/ silt.
nature rebounds but not the way it was.
