NANFA-- Freshwater Drum

While Xmas shopping for my wife, I managed to slip into Outdoor World (Bass
Pro Shop) in Grapevine, TX. They have a wonderful set of native fish tanks
(several species of bass, gar, sunfish, catfish, + buffalo, carp, paddlefish
& drum) which held my interest much longer than any of the mall shops that I
had visited.

The freshwater drum (Aplodinotus grunniens) really struck a chord with me
since they are common in our local waters but most people seem to know very
little about them. So, here are a couple of questions for discussion:

1. Page & Burr refer to production of a floating egg & larva. Has anyone
ever encountered any of these? How about YOY drum? What kind of habitat
were they in? What kind of collection method(s) were used?

2. I realize that drum can get too large for typical aquaria but has anyone
on the list ever attempted to keep/rear drum in a home aquarium? If so,
what kind of set-up, foods, etc. were used?
