At a small stream in Michigan, I have the best luck for mudminnows by holding
my Perfect Dipnet in the water against the shore. The stream being swollen
from the spring thaw has the grass bank underwater. Starting 3 feet upstream,
stomp on the grass in the water and lift the net.
