Interesting discussion on the Ponds List (mostly dedicated to large ones of
an acre or more) on frozen ponds. So my question is: for a small,
ornamental pond, is it better to:

- leave the snow on the ice: extra insulation from the cold but blocks the
sun

- remove the snow: allows the sun to keep plants, alagae alive

Where spring must be coming: got up to get the paper, sunny, felt warm even
with the breeze. Air temp 30* for first time in over three weeks.
