yesterday we had a fish fry at the house. the preacher had caught several
bluegills and a drum. i fired up the fry daddy and blot dried the fish, dipped
them in red wine vinagar and tossed them in a batter mix. deep fried all. the
blue gill were delicious...
the drum...
the drum actually tasted pretty good but it was tough and a bit rubbery. im
just curious how many nanfa listers have enjoyed eating the odd rough fish and
would share their experiences or techniques or recipes.
ive been wanting to try some of these "rough" fish. redhorse, drum, maybe
even gar. i picked up some arkansas brochures on preparing these and others
including bowfin, carp and hog suckers.
ive had a spear gun for a couple years now and keep thinking about giving it
a try while camping along a stream or river.
bg and bessie and martins wife fixed us some odd eatings back in jackson... i
remember snapping turtle, gar and gator.
