Just the other day I noticed a small fish about 3/4 inch long swimming in the
55 gallon drum I use to condition water. This drum is filled with a hose from
the faucet, dechlorinating salt added and recirculated through peat moss
before using. This fish was a female Aphyosemion australe that probably must
have gotten in as an egg in a cup I used to scoop out some water. That is not
so remarkable. What is remarkable is the condition of this fish, with no
added foods, ever. Obviously with a large amount of water (55 gallons per
fish) one could eliminate all this trouble with feeding.
