NANFA-- wild daphnia - where do you find them? When do you find them?

I am wanting to find and raise wild daphnia indigenous to Indiana, where I
live. I have yet to find any. A Fish and Wildlife person told me a few years
ago that the ones she had seen were much smaller than the daphnia magna I
currently raise. She said she had seen them in lakes and then come near the
surface at different times of the day.

What and when are the most likely places to find wild daphnia? Any
collecting tips would be appreciated, too.
