But Pyramid is in Nevada...and they don't like Californians in Nevada except
for the gaming dinero.

I'd be up for a trip to the lake if someone knew the country. Remember that
the species list from the area is somewhat limited.

Was up North of Winnimucca in the Fall looking for Lahontan Redside
habitat...flat tire, broken device to lower the tire...ramaging cow...my
wife was NOT thrilled. The new tire just sort of added to the experience. Oh
well.

It is a little freaky in CA. Right not it's illegal to transport a lot of
material that "may" be related to species that may have encountered the
Sudden Oak Death fungus...including soil, mulch, cut firewood bla bla. Our
green waste is mulched at the local garbage palace and sent to the valley to
be burned as fuel. The tree trimmers cut oak and add it to the mulch
food...so transporting the chips to the valley is under fire from the
Feds...at least for the moment.

I'm not sure what the practical application of live fish transport is in the
state. You can transport purchased live bait but the capture and
tranporation of baitfish is not addressed all that well. Game fish is
another issue and if you catch a Pike or Gar everyone including Governor
Davis will need to be informed and the decapped fish saved until the Fish
Police come for it.

I'm game for any collecting within a 5 hour drive of SF...unless it's a
really unique opportunity and then push that to a few more hours.

Take care,

Jim Atchison

--> I'm sure you would need a special permit to transport live fish in
