Yep, there is a link on the first page . . . to
http://199.250.30.114/fishing/news-rel/snakehead.html

it is in the NEWS section

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----

NEWS!
Indo-Pacific Lionfish (Pterois volitans) off East Coast (2/02)
Snakehead (Channa maurulius) found in Florida (5/01)
Nonindigenous Fishes book ordering information (4/14/99)

The snake head is a voratious predator with a nasty temperment.
It has a rudimentry labrynth organ so it can live in low oxygen water, and
it competes directly with the bowfin, and that is one tough competator.

"When forced to speculate on what effects the snakehead might have on native
fishes, Shafland said that, "If there are any effects, these would most
likely involve the bowfin (mudfish) since snakehead and bowfin share more
than just general appearances. Both of these species are also predators that
seem to have similar habitat and food preferences, and both can utilize air
to survive in waters with little to no oxygen." Some of the literature on
the snakeheads suggest this fish can reach lengths of four feet, although
Shafland is skeptical. "
. . . . from page mentioned above . . . .
