Because this is a NANFA list and it talks about NANFA related items. You
get the information on joining from the NANFA organizational web page and
publications. We are all interested in the same topic, that is why we are
here. I think the more pertinent question is why would you want to talk in
a NANFA forum and NOT want to be a member? It is run for NANFA and
(somewhat) by NANFA. The BOD obviously can make the decision to shut down
the list, so why not make it exclusive to NANFA members? I feel that the
list is one of the informational priveliges you get by paying your dues,
just like the AC.
