<< I have blackside darter (Percina maculata) fry. Any pointers on growing
them?
>>
Mark,
We've had some success raising several species of Percina. Providing the
right foods in the right amounts seems to be the key. We've used combinations
of green water, fine (20-80 micron size) powdered foods, live rotifers and,
as they grow, brine shrimp nauplii. We rear them in 20 gal tanks with good
areation to provide water movement to keep food and larvae suspended.
Give me a call or e-mail and I'll try to fill in any details. They're not
easy! But it can be done.
