I disagree and I have seen it mentioned in literature. I can't say where
right now. I'm getting to old to remember everything but the fins of small
minnows is a target for some species of clam larvae. They never seem to
present a problem and it would be interesting to know for sure what they are
as I too have seen them over a wide area.
