<< What I think are Shad is what
you mostly find dead in late winter and early spring in lakes around here.
I'm under the impression that when they are small, they are prey for game
fish >>
I've seen sizable amounts of dead gizzard shad underneath a bridge over the
Misteguay Creek during winter. I also find a few dead there in the summer.
