Sticklebacks would be a good thing to put in with the mudminnows. We have
the central mudminnow around here ( umbra limi) and they are almost always
caught with sticklebacks ( brook sticklebacks) . Other species commonly
associated with central mudminnows here are pirate perch, iowa darter,
tadpole madtom, and dace. I am pretty sure sticklebacks are good predators
of fish fry, be interesting to here what happens with your pond next year
when you experiment.
