Ray Katula and I went collecting up the Black river. We stopped at
serveral places from near the Mississippi in La Crosse to nealy Black River
falls. I hope i dont leave any species off this list, we caught many.
Northern Pike, pugnose minnow, spotfins shiner, emerald shiner, mississippi
silvery shiner, river shiner, [various others not known] , spotted sucker,
river redhorse, northern starhead topminnow, pirate perch, bluegill,
pumkinseed, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, yellow perch, gilt darter,
mud darter, rainbow darter, banded darter, fantail darter, blacksided
darter, and sand darter. We released most of the fish, took some pictures
of others. I took home some mud darters to add to some I had caught this
spring that are in my garden pool.

We collected for what seemed not very long , but turned out to be 5 hours.
It was a nice day, and a successful trip,
Ray Wolff
