for a fair bit of information. Actually, I wouldn't call the parasite
an amoeba as these authors do, but to many people, a myxosporidian
sounds like something they don't want to know much about, or-in-least
they want a simpler name for. It is a protozoan with a complex life
cycle, and that infects the brain tissue of fish (not just trout). It
was introduced to U.S. trout populations via hatchery stock.
