The bluenose and hogchoker were not in Rainbow Spring SP they were in another spring near by. I can't remeber the name of it off the top of my head and those early pages of my dive book are in bad condition. It was-in-a spring that had direct connection to salt water and nearby too because it was also a manatee sanctuary. It was a pretty busy place for divers so I'd imagine it would be an easy thing to find.

If it's a full moon when and you can be down there I highly recommend the night dive/snorkel trip. I never used my dive light but when I did you could hypnotize a fish and grab it in your hands.

If you haven't been to Rainbow Springs you will love it. I did two drift
dives there a few years back. The visibility is so great (>200ft) you forget
you are in water. Fish everywhere and some really cool caves and springs and
lush plant growth everywhere. Some of the other springs in that area were
my first encounters with hogchoker and bluenose shiner which blew me away.

bluenose shiners.
hum.
pretty cool. i snorkeled there a couple years ago on a tn aquarium outing...
plenty of nifty critters. dang... sure didnt see any blue noses. was with a
group and was the last out of the water. all the others were shivering
uncontrolably.
