ive got both species in the cement pond.
the goldens were aquired from a bait shop and the stripes from local creeks
where they are common in poolish areas. both species are rather bland but i
have seen goldens in florida that had very red tail fins. impressive. and the
multihued tuberculed striped males building and guarding nests are stunning
but odds are you will not experience that in home aquaria.
if you were picking from the 2 species i would say goldens as they are
hardier, more finage and easy to get.
your longears will be the real beauty tho! probably my fav large sunfish.
