Welding is a good idea --- if a welder can get to the holes :)

The epoxy paint is a good idea too, but I suggest using JB Weld first on the
pin holes, then epoxy over it. I've used JB Weld on aluminum and steel
boats before, and a slate bottom metal tank once with great effect. The
epoxy will then protect the steel from further oxidizing. So, either way, a
welder or JB Weld, and epoxy paint ought to do the job.

Subject: NANFA-L-- Tank Bottom

Recently, I have been given two very large aquariums-in-work. The bottoms
are
thin stainless steel plates. Over the years, electrolysis has occurred from
the rocks which were once in the tank and the steel. There are pinholes and
I
need an easy and affordable way to seal the bottom. Some people have
suggested silicon and others epoxy gels. If anyone has any ideas, please let
me know. In the past, these tanks have leaked and damaged an office below
them. I want to do what is best for the fish and try to keep the people
below
us dry.
