I don't think that it is practical to eliminate all disease pathogens, it
would be like keeping a person in a sterile incubator. Perhaps necessary in
isolated cases, but it is much better to develop natural immunities and disease
resistance. As doctors say, drafts and chills don't cause colds, viruses do; but
the stresses sure do lower your resistance to the viruses that are always
there. Breeding stresses add to the other stresses placed on the fish by less than
ideal water, food, light oxygen levels, etc.
