Treat these fish as if they are 2 very large cichilids, they are extremely
territorial and anything less than 300 gallons of water will NOT be enough.
Try separating them and you should see a lot less water landing on the
floor. A lot of people keep black bass for pets in Japan and at this size
they are often exiled to the outdoor pond (if one is available).
Regrettably, a lot of these fish end up in the local reservoir or river
where they contribute to the loss of native cyprinids.
