A while back, there was a thread about crawfish leaving their tanks, ponds,
etc.

While my wife and I were preparing to put a replacement liner in our
fish-pond, I discovered that our female Procambarus clarkii blue crawfish
had decided to leave her 20 gallon standard tank to go on a "walk-about".

I remarked to Bessie, that she might just find her in the fish-pond which is
only about 12-16 feet away from the 20 gallon. While she was catching the
last few fish out of the pond, she called out and said that she'd caught the
blue crawfish!

They do seem to have a "nose" for the next nearest water source!
