Dan, I use lots of those tubs (about 90 of them) in my snake
breeding project, they work great as you can easily drill holes in them
for ventilation and are easy to clean, the price is right too. In
regards to using them as aquariums, I would recommend that the larger you
go, the more bracing and support you make around them. They are all
fairly thin-walled, and easily bow out when filled with water. I have
had them simply crack right in front of me, and pour all the water out
onto the floor. I have used them in making up wet/dry filters, and they
work good for general sump use.
Check them out carefully before purchase, as some are more cheaply made
than others (thickness). Good luck and keep us posted on how you make
out.
